Seniors battle the Juniors in Tug of War to see who’s the toughest at last year’s Just Because Games.

Spirit Week is approaching and many students are eager for the Just Because Games. Spirit Week is a Student Council organized event that lets students display their spirit for Mount Carmel. Throughout the week, March 16-20, students will be participating in a variety of games. However, the Just Because Games is the most anticipated event.

“Since I was a freshman, I’ve enjoyed the Just Because Games very much. Everyone is always excited for this event in particular,” said senior Deanti Nichols.

The Just Because Games is the last day of Spirit Week, March 20. The Student Council has organized this day specifically for fun; many games will be played that test both mental and physical abilities. Freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors will be competing against one another to see who’s the best.

Last year’s games will be returning such as Tug of War, Hunger Games Dodgeball, and Limbo. Hunger Games Dodgeball is a game of mental and physical strength. Dodgeballs are placed all around the gym floor with shields and different vantage points; players battle until the other teams are defeated.

New games will be added to spice up the event, Hungry Hungry Hippos, Pass the Orange, and Human Bop-it. Students participating in the Just Because Games are unaware of these games, they are kept “top secret” according to Student Activity Director Sean Sweany.

Sweany is excited for Hungry Hungry Hippos, and anticipates that “Students will be surprised on how it’s played.”
