It’s that time of year again when Mount Carmel High School students present the annual fall play. Directed by Mr. Neil Heyman, this year’s play was titled  A Show of Our Own, and consisted of a collection of ten  contemporary songs featuring lyrics adapted by the cast, and dialogue that strung the songs together into a story line.  There were three performances on the weekend of Friday, October 30 through Sunday, November 2.

A Show of Our Own told the story of a group of MC students – playing themselves – trying to raise money for their theater group. You could certainly feel the comedic aspect throughout the play, from Jordan William’s “accidental” slip on stage to Jack Spellman’s solo, “Sad White Person Song,” to Justin Fekete’s solo about dogs wearing matching shirts and ties.

According to Heyman, who himself acted in high school, the cast was “thrilled” about performing, and he also was pleased with the performance. “I think this was a great opportunity to see what MC has to offer.” This happens to be Heyman’s first musical at Mount Carmel as a director.

In addition to Spellman, Williams, and Fekete, the cast included Wallace Goode, Larry Kudaisi, Amir Hardeman, Gabe Nunley, Pat Mckay, Zion Mallete, Robert Spicer, and the lone female cast member, Jessica Booker, a junior from Holy Trinity High School.
