Congratulations to Coach Alex Tsirtsis and the Caravan wrestling team on their performance at the Reavis Regional on Saturday.  All 14 wrestlers who competed for Mount Carmel advanced to the regional champion round.   Of those 14 Caravan wrestlers, 12 earned 1st place finishes, while the other two both finished second.  All qualified for the individual sectional that will be held next Saturday at Hinsdale Central High School. 

Adding to Mount Carmel’s successful weekend, the Math Team finished 3rd overall in the Chicago Archdiocesan Mathematics Contest held at Loyola University.  The team included seniors Blake Lopez, Sebastian Manrique, Cesar Sanchez, Brian Sullivan and Jon Weber. In addition to his contribution to the team’s success, Weber placed 6th in the individual awards category.

Additionally, the MC “Certamen” team (certamen means “competition” in Latin) placed 2nd at Whitney Young last week in its final competition of this academic year.  Senior Blake Lopez was named “MVP” for the year, meaning he answered the most correct questions for the Chicago North region.

Finally, congratulations to Mr. Villa and Studium 209 on its intramural basketball championship.
