Mr. Villa is back and ready to attack

Dominic Villa, a Carmel man, has rejoined the community as an Algebra I teacher. He graduated from Mount Carmel back in 2013. He says, “It feels great to be back at home.” Mr. Villa attended Mount Carmel all four years and played football during his time here. During his senior year, his team went to the IHSA State Championship game and won. That was an unforgettable moment for Mr. Villa.

Mr. Villa went on to attend Dominican University for two years and then finished his college career at St. Xavier. He pursued his degree in elementary education with an endorsement in math and social studies. Once receiving his degree, he got the opportunity to teach at his old stomping grounds, Mount Carmel. It was a great job opening he couldn’t resist.

Now that Mr. Villa is back at Mount Carmel, he is very happy. He feels he can really connect with the students because he has literally been in their shoes not too long ago. He does say, “It was weird at first to be a teacher at Mount Carmel considering most of the teachers here taught me, but I’ve gotten used to it.” He wishes to push his students and teach them as much as possible, whether that be in Algebra I or life lessons he learned while at Mount Carmel as a student. Mr. Villa is also an assistant coach for freshman football and varsity volleyball. He fits right in with the football coaches since he already knows the expectations, and he’s very excited for the volleyball season. He’s also excited to be working with Coach Nelson, considering she has played Division I volleyball and he has experienced much success coaching volleyball already.

As you can see, Mr. Villa has immersed himself back into Mount Carmel, showing much excitement to be back. It’s great to have him back and be involved because he creates a better community. Hopefully he will continue to do so and make an impact on the Mount Carmel community.
