Adult Spirituality series features Nelson-Johnson

Bringing young men together in community and closer to God is an important part of Mount Carmel’s mission as a Catholic school. For the second year in a row, Mount Carmel is hoping to extend that mission to our parent community through the Adult Spirituality Series.

Headlining this three session series is Loyola University alum Dr. Terry Nelson-Johnson, who holds a Doctor of Ministry Degree from the University of  St.Mary of the Lake and a Master’s Degree from  the Institute of Pastoral Studies. Along with these credentials, Dr. Nelson-Johnson is a Resident Theologian at Old St. Patrick’s Church located in downtown Chicago.

According to a news release on Mount Carmel’s website, or over 25 years, Nelson-Johnson has enjoyed working with adults throughout the country and helping them “to unveil the true mystery of God through storytelling, poems and group discussion.” Each participant is encouraged to respond with questions or personal reactions to Nelson-Johnson’s presentation.

The first session, which took place on November 5, focused on “The Mystery of God.”  Session 2, on January 28, took up “The Gift of Grace.”

Nelson-Johnson’s third and final presentation, “A Church to Call Home,” will take place on Wednesday, April 15 at 7 pm in the Kiszka Alumni Suite at Mount Carmel. After the 45 minute presentation individuals will be free to enjoy refreshments and discuss their thoughts with others.
