This year Mount Carmel has opened a new window of opportunity for students. The Cisco Certification program is designed to give students the opportunity to develop the skills they will need to meet certain job requirements in the computer field.

According to Br. Dave Semmens, the instructor, the course will provide the students with the ability to perform computer repairs. Students will engage in hands-on activities that will enrich their knowledge and genuinely raise their computer repairing skills. All the tools needed to succeed and complete the course are provided within the classroom.

After a student finishes the course, he can attempt to pass the Comp-Tia A+ certification exam. The Comp-Tia A+ certification is the entry level certification under this national certification program.

“I am proud to assist the students and give them the necessities . . . to be successful,” said Br. Dave. “The Cisco Certification brings a new dimension to the computer program.”

Br. Dave hopes that the class attracts many students and that the students attending will learn all about the art of computer repair, so they can use that expertise throughout college and possibly turn it into a profession.
