Couples make memories at Homecoming

What’s better than spending time with friends, having fun, and dancing with your crush or date? If that sounds good, you should have been at Mount Carmel’s Homecoming Dance.

This year’s Homecoming was held in the Convocation Center September 27.  Students enjoyed dancing, music, refreshments and a photo booth that allowed them to hold on to memories of a great night.

According to Student Council President Jeremiah Hilliard, more than 200 couples attended the dance, including many freshmen who were driven by their parents or guardians.

Kicking the night off with music, Mr. Jim Burke served as the event’s disc jockey.  The playlist included songs such as “The Cha-Cha Slide” and the “Cupid Shuffle” which a majority of the students knew and danced to.

Music and dancing weren’t the only attractions of the night. A photo booth made homecoming even better for the students.  “The photo booth was  an amazing idea and (the dance) was a great start for the school year,” said Hilliard.

Many upperclassmen, including senior Deanti Nichols, seemed to enjoy their last homecoming. As for the freshmen, who are new to the MC tradition, many took this event as an opportunity to meet new people.

As freshman Christian Galvan observed, without hesitation, “It was fun and a good time.”
