Band and choir share holiday spirit
During the holiday season, Mount Carmel’s band and choir held its annual Christmas Concert in the Commons on the evening of Wednesday, December 14.
For weeks prior to the concert, the band and choir spent entire class periods practicing different Christmas songs to perform at the concert.
“We’ve been practicing every day since the beginning of October,” noted band director Mr. Moises Pacheco.
Many students who had class near the band room were able to hear the nonstop music while in class.
“It was kind of distracting to hear the loud noise every day, but they sounded like they were doing well,” said Senior Senior Nik Rokita, who heard the band’s music every day while in Pre-calculus with Mr. Jerry Blew, which is located just above the room where the band and choir practice.
“Preparing went fairly well,” recalled Junior John Cordova, who plays percussion, before the performance. I hope it shows.”
Members of the band and choir themselves were excited to finally show off all of their hard work at the concert, and afterwards thought that they did a good job.
“It was definitely amazing,” recalled junior Juan De La Torre III, who has played the clarinet in band for the past three years.
Senior choir member Jake Jauregui agreed. “It went very well and I’m very proud of everyone who participated.”
For his part, Pacheco was very pleased.
“After all of their hard work these past weeks, I definitely think they did a good job and I’m proud of them for their performance.”
