Taste of MC to raise funds for activities
The Taste of MC gives clubs and spring sports the opportunity to raise money during Spirit Week. This year’s Taste will be held on Wednesday, March 18.
Spirit Week offers many activities for the students to have fun, but for many students, the Taste is the highlight of the week.
Junior Juston Woodard looks forward to the Taste every year. “This is the best event during Spirit Week. I love to watch the Basketball tournament and Sumo Wrestling because I laugh every time I see my friends in the Sumo outfits.”
Mr. Sean Sweany, Director of Student Activities, reports that 20 clubs are participating in the Taste of MC this year. According to Sweany, the Taste has been around for “about 7 years” and he’s been leading the event for 5 years. Students purchase as many tickets as they want for one dollar per ticket, and use them to buy food or play games.
Among the popular food items, the Speech and Drama club will offer mini pizzas for one ticket. The baseball team will sell sub sandwiches for two tickets, while the volleyball team will have puppy chow for two tickets. The Taste also will feature some traditional games like the basketball tournament, sumo wrestling, and darts for prizes.
Like Woodard, Junior Michael Baldridge loves the Taste and “the variety of food.” He also enjoys the many activities, especially the Sumo Wrestling,” because it is funny and my favorite activity.”
