As a school community, Mount Carmel has always been committed to providing a college preparatory education to every student who truly wants to be part of the Caravan.  Mrs. Adrienne McArdle, the newest member of the MC advancement team, intends to do just that.

McArdle joined Mount Carmel’s Advancement Office this past summer as the Director of Annual Giving and Scholarships.  She says “I would like to make Mount Carmel more accessible for those who want to come here, and ease the burden on families that want to send their sons here.”

Before she came to Mount Carmel, she worked at St. Ignatius College Prep for 17 years in campus ministry, helping with various retreats and service projects. Along the way, she also helped students “with anything they needed,” having conversations about college, faith, or “sometimes, students would just come in to talk about life.” In her last year at St. Ignatius, McArdle took on various assignments in the development office, which prepared her for her current role at Mount Carmel.

While McArdle believes that anyone who wants to come here should be able to, she recognizes the paying tuition can be a barrier. Sending all of her own children through many years of Catholic schooling, she “knows how hard it is to pay for Catholic schooling.” Still, she is committed to the idea that “If a student feels at home here, at Carmel, then he should be able to come, and it’s my job to help him come here.”

She also believes that students can help, just by telling people of their positive experiences here and making new students feel at home.

She notes that “it’s a testament to the Mount Carmel community that (so many) alumni come back as faculty. The faculty that come back believe in this community.”
