Mr. Bill Heaney is a new member of the Mount Carmel staff who is a counselor and works in the McDermott-Doyle Resource Program.

Heaney, who attended Saint Rita High School and graduated in 2005, went to college at Illinois Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois. Heaney earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration at Benedictine, and later added his Master’s Degree in School Counseling from Chicago State University.

Prior to joining the Caravan, Heaney worked as a school counselor for Saint Rita, and also worked at public schools including Lane Tech for four years.

During his normal day at Mount Carmel, Heaney has a lot of responsibilities. In addition to his responsibilities as a school counselor for students with last names A-G and two periods each day in the McDermott-Doyle, he also has found another commitment outside of the school day – coaching baseball.

Heaney’s goals in all of his new roles are “to develop students mentally and emotionally.”

When asked about his first impressions, Heaney used words such as “great” and “family” to describe Mount Carmel. He also stated that the energy at Mount Carmel reminds him of his time as a student and a counselor at Saint Rita.

Heaney and his wife recently had a baby. When asked, “Do you think your kid will go to MC,” Heaney replied, “If I’m lucky enough to still be here at Mount Carmel.”
