Mount Carmel hopes to repeat the success of last year’s Caravan Gala, which was chaired by Mr. and Mrs. Michael McGrew and Mr. and Mrs. James Kilbane

Fundraisers are among a school’s biggest sources of income during each school year. On February 28, the 34th annual Caravan Gala will take place.

The Gala is MC’s biggest fundraiser of the year, with an average attendance of 350-400 people. Mount Carmel looks to raise about $210,000 this year, after bringing in about $190,000 at last year’s event.

“Its a great night to celebrate Mont Carmel and be able to catch up with old alumni, parents of students, and parents of alumni,” says Mr. Mike Holland, the Director of Development and Planned Giving, who has been working with a committee for the past year to plan the event.

The money raised goes towards Mount Carmel’s  educational program and scholarships for the students. One benefit of this fundraiser is to help keep tuition affordable.

For many years the annual fundraiser was called the “Big Event.” Initially held at The Chicago Hilton, the event moved from Beverly Country Club to Gaelic park, and since being renamed has been held downtown. The 2015 Gala will be at the Chicago Marriott.

Filled with great people and music, along with a lot of games and a silent auction, Holland hopes the 2015 Caravan Gala will be another hit event. Tickets are $225 for alumni, $150 for current parents, and the alumni have a chance to buy the bundle package for $275, which will help them save $30.

Interested alumni and friends can obtain tickets by contacting Holland at Mount Carmel(773-324-1020).
