220 kick off four year journey as Class of 2020
Last Saturday, January 9, 220 prospective members of the Class of 2020 began their four year journey by taking the Catholic high school placement test at Mount Carmel. The placement test determines a student’s academic placement if he is admitted to the school. Mount Carmel’s curriculum includes three academic programs: Honors/AP, Excel, and Foundations.
Students who are accepted into Mount Carmel also will be eligible for academic scholarships based upon their test results. Any student who places in the 99th national percentile will receive free tuition for his freshman year and $4,000 off his sophomore through seniors years if he maintains a 4.0 career GPA. Those who score in the 90-98th national percentile will receive a $2000 scholarship for each of their four years at Mount Carmel.
Mr. Bill Nolan, Director of Admissions at MC, noted that the group of test-takers represented another successful year of shadow days, open houses, and individual tours. Now that they’ve made their high school choice, Nolan hopes that the members of the Class of 2020 will “write their own chapter” during their four year journey at Mount Carmel.
A make-up test for any current eighth grader who did not test at any other Catholic high school will be offered on Saturday, January 16 at 8 AM. The placement test fee is $25, cash or check. Testers are encouraged to get a good night’s rest and have a nutritious breakfast leading up to the exam.
