St. Cyril Dinner

Mount Carmel’s annual St. Cyril dinner is a night to honor some of the top donors who have provided the funds to make Mount Carmel a better learning environment for students.  The event took place on Thursday evening, October 6, at the University Club of Chicago.

This is the fourteenth year that the recognition dinner has been held.

According to Mr. Michael Holland, Associate Vice President for Institutional Advancement, Mount Carmel currently has over 2,000 active donors, 500 of whom have reached the designation of a “Lifetime Donor,”  representing a lifetime contribution of at least $10,000.  Among those 2,000 donors, there also are some who have contributed over $2,000,000.

“This dinner gives us a chance to honor those who have contributed to the community (for) the betterment of the student body.”

The dinner is also an opportunity to showcase the school and its programs to the donors.  A video was shown depicting the ongoing renovation project in the main building, and  Dominic Antonietti,  Student Body President, spoke about his experiences at Mount Carmel, referencing the many academic and extracurricular activities in which he has been involved.

The evening “gives the donors an inside view of the school and (assurance) that their money is not going to waste,” said Holland.  “It inspires them because they know they are contributing to the development of young men.”
