Roots and Multicultural Club revamp format for Diversity Dinner

The Diversity Dinner is hoping for another large turnout.

The Diversity Dinner is hoping for another large turnout.

The Roots and Multicultural Clubs will be hosting the first Diversity Dinner of the new year on Tuesday, January 31. The dinner will be held in the Commons from 6 to 8 p.m.

All students and parents are invited. Once again, the planning committee hopes to bring together students from various backgrounds to enjoy a meal and discuss current events and issues. This dinner will also have a theme: building unity through diversity.

The new twist on the dinner’s format involves inviting an outside speaker for the first time.  The clubs have invited several police officers to talk about their work. The goal is to see “a day in the life of the city” through their eyes and learn about some of the challenges they face.

Following the dinner, the Roots and Multicultural Clubs will hold a weekly forum during February.  The forum will take place during Studium and hopefully will engage students to talk about issues in society.
