MC GOAT to be revealed during virtual Night of Champions
Mount Carmel’s Night of Champions will be take place on February 13, 2021. The celebration and fundraiser will be virtual this year, and one of the highlights of the event will be the results of the school’s “Greatest Athlete of All Time” contest.
This contest invited alums and friends of the school to nominate any athlete from the 1950s to present day by making a contribution to the school’s athletic and extracurricular fundraiser.
According to Mount Carmel Athletic Director Dan LaCount, plenty of athletes have been nominated, including prominent alums like Donovan McNabb, Simeon Rice, and Jordan Lynch, and more recent graduates like, Eric Correa (diving), Ed Howard (baseball) and Alek Thomas (baseball).
In addition to nominating and/or voting for the greatest athlete, supporters can take part in the virtual Night of Champions in purchasing a $50 ticket that provides access to the livestream of the event, and by participating in the “Split the Pot” raffle.
Prizes will be based on the number of tickets sold and announced the evening of Night of Champions. Last year’s raffle winner took home almost $4,500.
The event offers a really interesting way to reflect on our school’s storied history, and for the community to support ongoing opportunities for our students in athletics and extracurriculars.
