Now that spring has finally kicked in and the weather is nicer, Chicago sports have been trending positively, especially with important players returning from injuries just in time for the playoffs.  As the Bulls and the Blackhawks regular seasons come to a close, the Cubs and the Sox are looking forward to a bright season.

The Blackhawks ended their season with  a record of 48-28-6 and have taken a three games to one lead in the first round of the playoffs against the Nashville Predators.  Superstar forward Patrick Kane, who suffered an injury to his clavicle in February, returned from surgery and rehabilitation to participate in the series versus the Predators.

MC senior Dylan Ryan, a huge Blackhawks fan, thinks this year’s playoffs will be successful.”The Blackhawks have done pretty well despite missing one of their key players, and I plan to see them excel in the playoffs.”

As for the Bulls, they also began the playoffs on a positive note by defeating the Milwaukee Bucks on April 20 by a score of 91-82. Derrick Rose, rehabbing from multiple knee injuries, seems to be back in action.  However, with the multiple injuries Rose has suffered in the past, many question whether he’ll be able to continue playing at the levels he achieved earlier in his career.

Senior Louis Martinez, a huge fan of the Bulls, has confidence that Rose and his team will be successful in the playoffs.  “I believe Derrick will be fine and lead his team to victories. He’s been looking good so far and hopefully he’ll do even better in the upcoming games.”

While the Hawks and Bulls pursue championships on the ice and court, Chicago’s baseball teams have returned to the diamond as well, although their seasons began in mediocre fashion.  The Cubs opened with a record of 8-6, while the White Sox are trying to get back in the swing of things with the opposite record of 6-8.

Mr. Mike Himes, a Caravan baseball coach and avid baseball fan, is proud to be a fan of both the north and south side teams.

“It’s a great time to be a Chicago baseball fan because there is an established expectation of success this year. Both teams have outstanding young talent-some of the best in the majors. But of course they still have to prove it on the field.”
