MC soccer plays its home games on Haggerty Field on the campus of Mount Carmel.

This year’s Mount Carmel Varsity Soccer record is 7-3, as the team headed to Iowa for the Go 4 the Goal Classic tournament. The final game before the trip, last Saturday against De La Salle, ended up 4-0 with MC grabbing the win.

In the team’s last tournament at Barrington, it placed second, losing to Saint Laurence High School for 1st place.

Mount Carmel junior Marcos Cid, who plays left forward, stated that the team’s success begins with its rigorous morning practices, which take place every other day at 6 AM.  Cid admits, “It can a be struggle sometimes to get up at 4:30,”  but points out that, “After the practice, you feel accomplished and ready to go.”

Cid also feels that the team has been winning because the coaches “have a strong desire to coach.”

So far the varsity already has enjoyed one five-game win streak. Last year Mount Carmel was the 2017 IHSA 3A Regional Champions, and the team hopes this year to continue with its recent success.
