Caravan bowlers on a roll
The Mount Carmel varsity bowling team started the week with a record of 5-1 while the JV is 4-2 which is a pretty good start to the season.
The team practices at Castaways Bowl in Calumet City every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. During practice bowlers work on their strike shot and on perfecting the same consistent strike ball.
Varsity and JV had two games this week: Tuesday vs St. Laurence and Thursday vs Providence.
In Tuesday’s game MC ended up getting a double win against St. Laurence. Scores were 9-0 for the JV and 7-2 for the Varsity.
MC ended up losing Thursday’s match against Providence. Scores were: JV 5-4 and Varsity 7-2. The next match will be December 11 against Marist at Centennial Lanes.
MC freshman Christian Martinez appreciates the leadership of his older teammates.”The seniors and juniors on the varsity team have a positive effect on me by giving me tips to better myself.” He also sees progress as a result. “I feel that I am getting better as the season goes on.”
His classmate Jacob Ayala agreed that the team has helped him, as this is his first year bowling. He also is “excited to get even better.”
