The Varsity Soccer team is off to a strong start and will compete at Marmion Academy on Thursday, September 26.

This year’s 2019 MC varsity soccer team is off to a great start, with veterans and new faces motivated to push towards that longed for state championship which slipped away in 2016 against Chicago Latin.

Ever since that autumn, when MC Soccer won its first state hardware, the desire for a state championship and ring has never faded. Led by Head Coach Antonio Godinez, the team is currently on a streak with four consecutive wins, including two shutouts courtesy of junior goalkeeper Ernesto Hernandez.

Team captain Felix Mendoza, who plays as center attacking midfield or in the center midfield, is “very motivated for the season.” He feels that his teammates are “ready to get working and do our best to actually take it all the way this time. I think were going to settle for nothing less than state.”

Mendoza embodies the pride and love for his school that so many students feel. “I’ve always been proud to play for Mount Carmel.”

Varsity Soccer’s next games will take place in Burlington, Iowa at the “Go 4 The Goal Tournament on October 3 – 4.
