Mount Carmel football will play it’s third consecutive semi-final on the run to State against the Warriors at Willowbrook High School.

The Caravan enter this matchup at 12-0 after its 24-8 victory over the Phillip’s Wildcats in what was billed by some as the “South Side Super Bowl.”

Willowbrook enters this semi-final game with a 11-1 record after a decisive 28-10 victory against (8-4) Lake Zurich. The Warriors are seeded fifth in the IHSA 7-A Division, while the Caravan is the number 1 seed.

Some players to watch from the Caravan are quarterback Justin Lynch, running back Kenenna Odeluga, kicker Julian Patino, and line backer Lance Swain.

The key players for the Warriors, according to John Leusch (in an article published on Daily Herald’s Football Focus on October 16), are wide receiver Everett Stubblefield, as well as defensive back and wide receiver Deandre Holliday. The Warriors are led by first-year head coach Nicholas Hildreth.

Kick-off for Saturday’s game will be at 1 pm.

Line play was a key factor in the win over Phillips.
