Senior Daniel McKeown is one of many returning players on the varsity football team.

After over a year of waiting, the Mount Carmel Caravan ride again. With a shortened six-game season, the team has been working its hardest to prepare for the upcoming challenges.

The first opponent will be the Montini Broncos at their field on Friday, March 19. The freshman play at 5:00 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 7:30 p.m.

The Caravan, state champions in 2019, is hoping for another successful season, with 16 starters returning from that year’s team.

Co-captain and quarterback Justin Lynch (#1) leads the team, along side four other co-captains:  running back Kennena Odeluga (#36). Thanasi Chioros (#12), Austin Haygood (#5) and Michael Dobrich (#50).

The return to sports is filling a gap that these athletes and their teammates, along with the Carmel community, have felt since the pandemic put all sports on hold.

With sports active again, many students have chosen to return to in-person classes, which in turn has enlivened the hallways on campus and brought students closer together.
