IHSA to allow limited attendance for football
With the return of high school sports in Illinois, many fans, specifically football fans, were disappointed to hear that only 50 people were going to be allowed to attend games, even though they are played outdoors.
However, the good news is that the Illinois High School Association recently revised that guideline to allow all schools in a Phase 4 region to expand attendance to 20% of capacity in outdoor stadiums.
However, even with that expanded attendance rule, fans from visiting teams’ schools were not to be allowed to attend those games.
Most recently, there has been more good news for Mount Carmel fans. For Saturday’s games at Loyola, each varsity and sophomore football player on the active roster is eligible to receive two tickets to attend the game.
While that allows every athlete’s parents to attend, other Caravan fans still are excluded. (Freshman parents will be allowed to attend without tickets, but will need to vacate the stadium prior to the sophomore game.)
The freshman teams kick off at 9 a.m. Sophomores follow at 11:00 a.m., with the varsity scheduled to play at 1:30 p.m.
