Mr. John Haggerty is beginning his thirty-fifth year on the faculty of  Mount Carmel High School, and returns this year as moderator for mccaravan.org.  He teaches Advanced Placement Literature and Composition, Reading & Language Skills, and previously has served as Mount Carmel’s principal.

Mr. Haggerty and his wife Heather have three children:  Sarah, a graduate of St. Norbert College who teaches pre-school in Madison, Wisconsin; Dan, MC Class of 2011, also a graduate of St. Norbert who teaches English and coaches freshman football at Mount Carmel last year; and Grace, a graduate from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa who works for the Glencoe Youth Project at Glencoe Junior High.

Outside of school, Haggerty enjoys reading (his favorite contemporary author is Colum McCann) and is an avid fan of the Chicago Blackhawks.
