Nissen hopes to make impact
In just his first year at the school, Mr. Adam Nissen is excited for the great opportunity to be a part of the Mount Carmel family. “I love it; I love the all-male culture, and I love how established Mount Carmel is.”
Nissen comes to MC after being at Urban Prep Academy, a Chicago charter school, for nine years. The difference between MC and Urban Prep, according to Nissen, is that MC is a lot more organized and less hectic.
He attended Ball State University from 2001-2002, then went on to the University of Iowa (2002-2006) where he would eventually graduate with a history major.
In addition to teaching, Nissen is one of the sophomore football coaches, moderator of the Current Events Club, and plans to also coach basketball and track. He stated that he already has learned so much more about football and coaching than he ever had in the five years he coached at Urban Prep.
In the little free time that Nissen has, after grading papers, coaching, or spending time with his daughter and wife, he loves going to the gym. He’s also a huge Chicago sports fan and an avid reader. With just two months under his belt, Nissen is already starting to make a huge contribution to the Mount Carmel community.
