#5 Jordan Lynch, now an Edmonton Eskimo, dropping back to pass for Mount Carmel at Gately Stadium.

Second chances don’t come around too often. But  Mount Carmel graduate Jordan Lynch  has a chance that is right around the corner.

Lynch signed with the CFL’s Edmonton Eskimos in early January. After earlier signing with the Chicago Bears and being converted to a running back before being cut, Lynch now gets the opportunity to play the position that he loves and  values most, quarterback.

“It feels good,” Lynch said in an interview with Eddie Carifio published on January 14in the  nwherald.com “Quarterback is a thing I’ve been doing for a long time, and it’s kind of my comfort zone. I get to go back to doing what I love.”

At NIU Lynch had a 61.8% completion with throwing 51 touchdowns and only 14 interceptions. He also had 4343 rushing yards and 48 touchdowns, according to Carifio.

The former Hesiman trophy candidate looks to put up these numbers again to help get the Eskimos back to the postseason again this year.

Like Doug Flutie and Joe Theismann, Lynch hopes to use the CFL as a stepping stone to the NFL. As he told Carifio,”If I take that approach, the NFL will come sooner than later. But I have to establish myself. I have to prove I can play quarterback and do that and have a good time up there, but most important I want to help Edmonton win games.”

Lynch like many other in the CFL, still has his eyes set on the grand prize, The NFL.
