New Year starts with resolutions
To start off the new year, many of us make resolutions. In 2015, many Mount Carmel students are planning to improve their grades, make changes to the way they live, and work hard in sports.
One freshman, Malachi Smith, has resolved to be a better athlete. “I will work hard to join a sport’s team because I was unhappy when I didn’t make the basketball team.” He is willing to work hard so he can “make the team next year.”
He also is resolving to be a better grandson because he felt that he wasn’t listening to his grandparents and disobeying them. “I haven’t been a great grandson to my grandparent and they deserve it.”
Junior Devan Johnson just hopes to achieve his New Year’s Resolutions this year. “I attempt to do my New Year’s Resolution, but then I forget about doing it.”
Specifically, “This year I want to work hard to play football and keep my grades up.” Despite his pass failures, he’s beginning this year with a sense of confidence about accomplishing his goals. “I know for a fact I am going to have higher grades than now because I am motivated.”
Senior DeAndre Greer has a yearly resolution to have a better eating habit and get in shape for the football season. “I eat less meat and more vegetables, so I have energy when I work out.” He wants to maintain his good grades and get ready for college. “I want to finish the year off with good grades to prepare myself for college and being by myself.”
