Mount Carmel to change colors as of April 1

Mount Carmel juniors traditionally wear red during Spirit Week, but with the change in official school colors will be wearing something else next year.

The next time Mount Carmel takes the field it will not be in brown and white, but instead  red and white.  A plan that has been in the works  for several years will finally come into effect. According to President  Fr. Tony Mazurkiewicz, “This is exactly the change we needed.  We will attract a whole new range of students.”

The change, which will prove to be very costly, is made possible by several large alumni donations.  All students will be supplied with new polos, and athletes in all sports will be issued new uniforms . In the future anything in the building that currently is painted brown will be completely repainted over to red.

Mr. Phil Segroves loves the idea of the new color scheme.

“Brown is a tough sell sometimes; not everyone looks good in brown.”

Segroves, who as one of the school’s recruitment directors has been fighting for a big new idea at Mount Carmel, never thought the color scheme was an option.

“I can’t believe that this actually happened.”

This shocking color change came straight down from  Fr. Tony. While the exact reason for the color change has not been officially leaked, many are speculating it is because of Fr. Tony’s Polish background.  However, when, asked, Fr. Tony offered a different reason.

“I want something new in this school.  Brown is such a sad color.”

As some students and faculty wait in anticipation for the change, others dread it. Mr. Jerry Blew, a long time teacher and coach of MC, is not happy about the change.

I have about a thousand brown Mount Carmel shirts, jackets, and sweatpants and now they are useless.”

Coach Blew isn’t the only one who was unhappy with this change. Junior Andrew Guerra, whose room is filled with brown Mount Carmel gear, lamented “All I ever wear is brown shirts and look at brown in my life.  It’s going to be way different.”

This change will take effect on April 1.
