Fresh out of St. Norbert College in Wisconsin, Mr. Daniel Haggerty is happy to be back home. A 2011 graduate of Mount Carmel, Haggerty has been involved at MC throughout his entire life, even during his time in college, when he frequently returned to help administer placement tests. Now five years after graduation, he is teaching AP English classes and sophomore English classes.

Mr. Haggerty is not the only Haggerty at MC. His father, Mr. John Haggerty, teaches AP English literature and composition and moderates the Caravan newspaper. The younger Haggerty appreciates that advantage “It is good to have someone in the building that I can go to if I have any questions.”

Outside of the classroom, Haggerty is a coach on the sophomore football team. He coaches the wide receiver position and holds his students to high expectations on and off the football field. “I want my students to work on the skills they need to improve on the field and in the classroom.”

Just finishing school in May, Haggerty was almost immediately back in the classroom, but this time teaching instead of learning. However he is not entirely new to the classroom as he had three different practice teaching assignments in his program at St. Norbert. “Going from sitting in a classroom to teaching in one has been an easy and comfortable transition, especially here where it feels like home.”
