Clinton’s experience earns my vote

After barely defeating Bernie Sanders in this year’s Iowa Caucus, Hillary Clinton went on to lose in New Hampshire, before securing a win in the Nevada Caucus.   Despite this uneven start to the primary, season, I believe Clinton remains the top presidential candidate for the Democratic Party.  I support Clinton because of her broad experience and track record on important issues.

Clinton’s experience in domestic and foreign policy is broader than any other candidate.  In addition to running for president in 2008, eventually losing the nomination to Barack Obama, and serving as the First Lady of the United States, she has many accomplishments in her own right. Clinton was a senator for the state of New York for 8 years (2001 – 2009).  She then was appointed by President Obama in 2009 as the 67th United States Secretary of State, serving in his cabinet until 2013.   With these experiences to draw upon, it is my opinion she will be fully prepared to act as Commander – in – Chief.

I also agree with  Clinton on a number of policy issues: her support of research to find a cure for Alzheimer’s disease, her position on campaign finance reform, her stand on campus sexual assault, and her stand against gun violence.

Not only do the issues identified above make Clinton an ideal candidate for President, but I am also in agreement with her ideas regarding criminal justice reform, immigration reform and desire to deal head on with the issue of racial injustice.

Most people identify Clinton with her husband, Bill, the two – term, 42nd President of the United States (1993 – 2001).  However, I find her to be a candidate who can stand on her own accomplishments and consider her to be the best choice among this year’s candidates.
