Spakowski to expand music program
One of Mount Carmel’s new faculty members, Mr. William Spakowski, hopes to expand the music program at MC. Spakowski assumed the position of Director and Band and Choirs last month, a role in which he also teaches Guitar and Music Industry.
A graduate of DePaul University with a degree in Music Education, Spakowski went on to earn a Master’s in Music Education and Choral Conduction at Florida State University .
Spakowski comes to MC with eight years of teaching experience. He began his teaching career at St. Joseph’s Grammar School in Lincoln Park, on Chicago’s north side, later moving to Highland Middle School in Libertyville, Illinois.
Spakowksi’s first impression of MC is that it is offers very “unique” experience, with lots of “freedom for the students.” He is excited about being back in the city of Chicago, after years of commuting to the northern suburbs.
If the name Spakowski sounds familiar that is because the new music teacher is the husband of Mount Carmel’s former Director of Marketing, Mrs. Claire Spakowski. Mrs. Spakowski, who resigned this past summer to accept a position in marketing downtown, told her husband that MC is full of great things, and that he can expect to meet many talented students.
