Today is the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe.  The all-school Mass was celebrated by a legendary Carmelite, Fr. Tracy O’Sullivan.  Fr. Tracy, an alum from the Class of ’54, noted that the last time he had celebrated Mass at MC was 57 years ago, shortly after his ordination.

In his homily, Fr. Tracy pointed to the significance of the feast, challenging all to accept our own identity as a first step toward embracing our common humanity with those who may be different.  He also challenged the community to be conscious that all people, regardless of race, gender, or identity, are children of God.

Mount Carmel’s Chess Team currently is in 3rd place (behind St. Ignatius and Latin) in the Chicago Chess Conference, while junior Will Quinn is tied for 1st place as an individual player. There is just one more regular season match – January 7 vs. Marist (at home) – before the Conference Championship on January 18 at St. Ignatius.  That will be followed by Sectionals on Feb 1, and State Finals on February 14-15.
