Seven student-athletes announced their intent to compete at the collegiate level at a signing day ceremony held on Wednesday morning in the Kiszka Alumni Suite. There were five football players, including Mario Davis (University of Dubuque), Michael Foggie (Valparaiso University), Jalen Grant (Bowling Green State University), Lance Swain (Quincy University), Aaron Lopez (Augustana College) and Jason Thompson (Carthage College).
In addition, Alex Lalezas signed a letter of intent to wrestle at Campbell University in North Carolina.
At this weekend’s individual IHSA State Finals, seven of Mount Carmel’s 12 wrestlers advanced to the next round after day one, including Sergio Lemley, Colton Drousias, Noah Mis, Connor Gaynor, Michael Kelly, Ashton Breen, Jalen Grant. The remaining five will wrestle back in an attempt to place.
This is an important weekend for all students, as Trimester 2 exams will be given next Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
