As in-school classes resume today, there was a glimmer of good news regarding extracurricular activities.

Athletic Director Dan LaCount announced that because the State of Illinois has moved the Chicago region from tier 3 to tier 2 mitigations, Mount Carmel will be able to offer some limited athletic programming for our students before and after school. Much like in the fall, numbers of participants will be limited numbers (both inside and outdoors),  students will be required to wear masks, and facilities/equipment will require extra cleaning after activities.

LaCount noted that “During these very dark months, this is good news for the socio-emotional and physical well being of our student-athletes.”
While decisions regarding the rest of the year have not been made, LaCount hopes that by spring “we will have some  interscholastic sports again.”
