Social media specialist by day; “RedPandaGamer” by night

Mr. Jake Goldberg’s Youtube channel entertains over 60,000 subscribers.

Outside of the classroom, Mount Carmel faculty members such as Mr. Jake Goldberg practice many unique hobbies. When he isn’t on campus serving as the school’s media specialist, he can be found at home or around the city making videos for his Youtube channel.  With over 60,000 subscribers, the majority of his work as “RedPandaGamer” refers to video game commentaries that all gamers should enjoy.

Goldberg found his passion in high school, where he produced videos whenever he had spare time.  His freedom to pursue that passion was short-lived, however, once he stepped onto the campus at Columbia College of Chicago. Nonetheless, he published whenever he could, and continued doing so after he graduated.  To this day, Goldberg uploads videos that display all things gaming.

“RedPandaGamer” includes a variety of gameplay commentaries, tutorials, and reviews.  The featured games on his channel include Dark Souls, Super Mario, and Super Smash Bros.  Goldberg also started a Pokemon Go gameplay series, in which he and his friends recorded themselves while wandering the streets of Chicago playing the virtual-reality app.  Some of his videos have eclipsed one-million views.

Along his journey toward “mini fame” (as he describes it), Goldberg not only has profited through ad revenue, but also in ways that have helped him in his career.  He noted that “learning how audience attention works” and “being able to collaborate with people around the country” has benefitted him in his responsibility of promoting Mount Carmel on social media.

Goldberg appreciates the feedback and support his fans have given his channel through the years.  “(I’m grateful that) people stumble upon my videos and find me worthy of their time.”
