DeAngelis serves as math teacher this school year.

Mr. Anthony DeAngelis, known to colleagues and family as “Tony,” is a new faculty member at Mount Carmel. Originally from Chicago, DeAngelis attended college at Purdue University Calumet in Hammond, Indiana, where he majored in secondary education.

Before DeAngelis became a teacher, he worked with an engineering firm for 10 years. Afterwards he considered entering the physical therapy field, but eventually decided to pursue teaching. “My goal is to help people,” says DeAngelis.

DeAngelis has been teaching math for 14 years, and before coming to MC he was a teacher at Marist High School. He said the big difference between Marist and Mount Carmel was the all-boys atmosphere and the schedule rotation. “The schedule gives you more time to get things done and have one on one time with the students.” The goal he wants to achieve at MC is mostly about the students, “I want to challenge students in a positive way.”

Along side his teaching, DeAngelis has a few more interests. He is  involved in a group with his wife that helps the homeless by handing out lunches on weekends. He also participates in marathons and enjoys running very much. Although he never played for a team, baseball has been one of his favorite sports.
